Why?
For roughly the same amount of out-of-pocket expenses, you can have the energy efficient upgrades (weatherization and duct efficiency measures) and be energy efficient! The work covers most of the measures included in the energy audit!
When?
As soon as possible! This way, the property can be advertised as "Energy Efficient Upgrades Completed".
How much are the rebates and what are my out-of-pocket expenses?
If the property is a 3,500 square foot home, the CASH rebates will total $700. You or your client may be out of pocket as little as the cost of an energy audit. Each property is unique.
When should I not consider taking advantages of the rebates - thus, not having the energy upgrades implemented?
If the property only has service from Austin Energy and not Texas Gas, you may want to just go with the ECAD Energy Audit. The cash rebates from Texas Gas are 40% of the total cash rebates offered. Also, if the buyers absolutely insist on an audit during the option period there may not be enough time to perform the energy efficient upgrades. However, we like challenges, so let's take a look at it!
Who handles the paperwork?
We do, we handle it all for the seller!
Will your work be inspected?
Yes, an Austin Energy inspector with the conservation department will ensure that our work meets or exceeds the stringent standards of Austin Energy. In addition, they will tell you when you can expect your rebate checks.
When do I receive my rebate checks?
You should receive your rebate checks from Austin Energy within 2 to 4 weeks of the final inspection from Austin Energy. The Texas Gas check will follow 1 to 2 weeks after the Austin Energy Check. The final inspection usually occurs 3-5 days after we have performed your energy efficient upgrades.
